Candy Corn Drawing
Halloween is around the corner and if you are distance teaching like me, it is hard to figure out some seasonal activities when students aren’t in the classroom. Every Wednesday in our class we do Art and it has made creating seasonal fine motor tasks much more realistic.
Last week I changed up our fine motor activity and we drew a candy corn. I am a huge fan of Art for Kids Hub and how easy it is to implement their activities by having everyone grab a piece of paper and crayons. At the beginning of the year I made sure to send home a full color set of loose crayons (we have a huge 5 lb bin of them so there was no need to buy boxes of them).
I use art as an alternative to our fine motor activity because let’s face it. Things can get boring with distance learning because there’s only so many activities we made to send home. It is so much easier to create new activities weekly if not daily when the students are in person. Yet, online things can get kind of dull when we are using the same four fine motor activities that everyone has.
The Youtube art channel also has some super fun halloween designs ranging from simple to advanced like these:
I hope this gave you some ideas of how to start adding some Halloween fun to your classroom via distance.
Happy Teaching :)
