Atypical Classroom Management Checklist for Sensory Motor Needs
Throughout my years teaching Special Education I have started to internally ask myself a lot of questions when teaching my students to make sure that I am creating an environment that they can access and learn from. One of the things that is constantly on my mind is if their sensory needs are being met because to be honest, I may not notice that the lights are too bright or the clock is too loud. I even had a student who could hear motorcycles, trains, and planes that I had to stop and listen really hard for but to them it was as if that vehicle was right next to us. That’s why I created this Atypical Classroom Management Checklist because it is an awesome start to asking ourselves if we are paying attention to the things that may be big things for our students but something I may never even think of. Here is the checklist:
I hope this helped you think of some areas in your classroom that may need a little revamping to help all of your students have access to learning and until next time,
Happy Learning
