My Go-To Shoes for Work
Working part time as an adjunct professor has pushed me to update my wardrobe lately and the shoes I have found are some of my favorite finds! I wanted a few pairs that were stylish but also comfortable because I tend to be on my feet most of the time, depending on the size of the class I am teaching. This post will give you some inspiration of some classic shoe looks you can find or dupe for your professional closet.
When I first saw these Loafers in a Macy’s department store I became obsessed. This style loafer is chunkier then what I usually go for so I was very unsure of myself if I would actually wear this style so I passed on these! Yup that’s right I looked, tried them on, obsessed over them and left the store without them. Luckily, I kept thinking about them and finally bought them a few months later and don’t regret this purchase one bit. They are super comfortable and always help me complete a professional look without worrying if my feet are going to hurt. To this day these are my top go-to shoes for teaching at the college at night or any professional type of meetings.
Back in the day I bought a pair of converse shoes for my high school graduation and hand studded them. It took days and my hands were killing me. I also studded a phone case (very heavy but a great protection tool if need be) and various other items in my closet. So I tend to feel nostalgic about any type of studded shoe. When I came across these I knew they could add some fun to my closet and allow me to still look professional
Lastly, this brown houndstooth find was the perfect addition to my closet because it wasn’t black! My go-to tends to be black or as my friend says, funeral style (LOL). I am not a fan of the black and white houndstooth style surprisingly because it’s a little too busy for me but this muted brown version was perfect! I love to mix and match a black blazer with these brown loafers for work.
These classic finds are some great inspirations of what you can add to your professional wardrobe while staying comfortable. I love the look of heels but I tend to be the person who is in leggings and a t-shirt 85% of the time so going from that to full on heels tends to be more jarring then fun for me. That’s why I am obsessed with the loafer style because it can class up my looks and allow me to feel as comfortable as I am in my tennis shoes.
